When you run and play outside, you might feel thirsty and need a drink of water. Drinking water is very important, even if you don’t feel thirsty. It keeps you hydrated and gives your body energy. 8 REMEMBER! It’s a good idea to take a water break after playing, while eating a meal, and when you wake up. WATER SAVING TIP If you don’t finish the water in your cup, save it for later or give it to a plant or animal to drink. Water is an important part of cooking. It’s an ingredient in many recipes and you use water to steam vegetables, boil pasta, and make soup. You also use water to clean the counters and dishes when you finish preparing a meal. 10 REMEMBER! Cooking with water can get hot! Make sure you have an adult to help you when preparing a meal with hot water. WATER SAVING TIP When helping wash dishes, turn the faucet off when you are scrubbing the dishes so the sink does not overflow.I see a paintbrush, a bowl, and some colorful paints. When using watercolors, you dip your brush into water first and then into dry paint to moisten it. The water mixes with the paint to make colors you can use to create art. You can also use water to thin paint, which makes it easier to spread on your paper. 12 REMEMBER! Wear a smock or an old shirt when you are painting to help keep your clothes clean. When it doesn’t rain enough, you can use watering cans, hoses, and sprinklers to water outdoor plants.
